Amazing sculptures outside Wollombi

I saw this sculpture as I was driving past a while ago and vowed to go and have a closer look. It's terrific! I'd call it
' The attack of the killer ants'

They are made of metal car parts(?) or similar.I'll post extra pics on my Blog.If you want to see it in the flesh it's part of the Wollombi sculpure trail that is on for October and it is located at the Lavender Gate gallery venue just before Wollombi.I wanted to see who made it but I couldn't find a name which was disappointing.

I love the way it is eating the logo!

Creating a portrait of Scoobie - 30 x 40cms Pastel

I'm creating a pastel portrait of a lovely terrier at the moment. I am having fun with colour! He is so cute.
I'm having a ball with Pastel. The portrait is 30 x 40cms image size which is a great size for him.I've been given permission to enhance his colour and it's looking great!
 Here is the reference photo.
He is inside a tent New years day 2005.The photo isn't an ideal reference photo as it isn't sharp and his eyes and nose are just black blobs but it is such a happy pose and I have found a sharper photo to help with the details.
Some paintings seem to paint themselves effortlessly and his is one of them.I think the portrait is almost finished but I'll sit on it for a while and have a fresh look.

Here's an update on the farmer on his quad painting.I need to have it finished for early next week for an artshow but I don't think it will be 100% done by then.
I have a headache today so no more painting.I have a lovely old frame ready for it.

Bonus - a palomino stockhorse X quarterhorse

Here's a portrait I've done of Bonus a palomino stockhorse quarterhorse cross. He has been a great first horse for Kate being a loyal, intelligent, placid ,lazy smoocher. He's now about 12 years old has done Parelli groundwork and does dressage.
The portrait is a Pastel sketch.

An entry for an art show

I've done a bit more to one of my 2009 portrait sketches from a model. I'm going to enter her in an art show.I've deliberately left her unrefined as I like her that way.I liked the feel of what I got on the day and even though I could have fixed her up a bit more I wanted to keep that feel.

Demo of the farmer and his dog

I know I had some photos of the very start and the sketch of this one but I can't find them so here are the earliest ones I have.
I sketched the whole painting up roughly with a few mistakes that I corrected as I went along.
Here I am just trying to cover the whole canvas with approximate colours.

This is what I did on the day at the horse event. I was too busy talking to get a lot done .I usually paint the whole painting to the same stage but I felt I needed to almost finish off the dog to show people what he would look like.

Now I've started to refine the farmers clothes. My aim is for the focus to be on the connection between the farmer and his dog with the rest of the painting not as important so I don't want to overdo the rest of the painting.
Now I have to do the farmers face, adjust the landscape a bit  and finish off the quad bike without getting too detailed..
